Hey guys

Not much into politics. I am not even allowed to vote in this country, and I would not be a party member of either party if I was. I have plenty of problems with both democrats and republicans and I like ideas and people from both sides.
But the one thing that turns me off Republicans is their insisting that the wealthiest tax breaks cannot be touched and tax breaks stay in place on oil companies and jet owners, all that whilst they want serious cuts in social security.
People can argue that tax breaks lead to job creation, and economics is not a hard science, else the debate would be over.
But I believe tax breaks to the middle class would result in much more spending and job creation. Tax breaks on people who already own billions of dollars tend not to lead to job creation or extra spending, most of these people have more than enough money and, in cny case, know how to cheat taxes by moving it around internationally.
As such, of course, one could argue that the tax break on the richest people are designed to discourge them from hiring lawyers to move money overseas.
Nevertheless, this philosophy is an insult to anyone who is not a billionaire. They need to do their bit in help fix the mess they created (manyof the richest peopple are irresponsible bankers who made the wrong decissions and caused billions of dollars in property value falls and thousands of jobs lost but then flew away with a smile, and I worked in the banking sector so I saw this development from within).
Can you seriously support a party that wants poor people to take on additional tax burden whilst caterring to the rich?
Again, I am not saying "you are idiots", may be there are reasons at play here and I am the idiot. I'll happily admit that if someone convinces me, but I am genuinely curious to hear your views on this, and how you can support a party with this type of agenda.

Personally I think Social Security should be transferred into private retirement accounts that only the holders can touch. People talk about Republicans catering to the wealthy. Well, the way Social Security is now, it's I believe part of a general fund that the Congress can plunder any time it wishes. Basically what you put into it will add up to less once it's time to retire, or, if you can't work, get SSI disability.

its ironic to me if you look at the levels of people whoa re republicans, people from the deep south, middle south, south west, and such. It is common knowledge that the south has the higher unemployment rates, more people who are reliant on social welfair, and a history of people who would do anything but to industrialize if you go back to the merrits of the civil war. But yet, it is these people who want to protect the rich, cut back on social programs, and advocate tax cuts.
go figure

Taxes are a much needed thing, and the rich can well afford them. Tax brake were given to people that didn't even ask for them, and as pointed out they have resources to protect much of there money anyway. If you live in the US support it or leave. The poor don't have the leaving choice or the moving there few dollars off shore, but I believe this will always be with us. The rich get richer and the poor pay more.

your reasoning is wrong, and just look at things through reality and your question might be different.
